With over 20 years in the creative industry, my artistic journey has been fuelled by a passion for visual storytelling. While my professional work spans prestigious live events and media projects, painting is where my true expression comes to life. This instinctual, hands-on process allows me to explore creativity freely, much like the joy I felt as a child discovering art.
After years as a computer artist, I find deep satisfaction in spending time in front of a canvas, immersed in the tactile world of colour and form. Lobsters inspire me with their resilience, adaptability- their visual difficultly and uniqueness. Their intriguing form symbolises my own artistic character, change, growth, solitude, lost in the deepness and tainted with mystery. Painting is not just a profession for me—it’s a passion and the purest reflection of who I am.
'The Spiny Lobsters' Spikes, bumps, spines, colours & intricate patterns. These fascinating creatures make the most challenging and surprising subjects. I got lost in the colours and mystery of them. 300 hours later, I am proud of what is really inspired by the victorian style animal study illustrations. The composition spills out of the canvas in a pleasing way. If you're interested in purchasing
'Shaggy cow' A love of texture and intricate pattern, with the shaggy hair swirling over a square mass of beast. With soulful eyes, singled out of a grey world. Available framed 2021. If you're interested in purchasing this original, please email at lydia@lydiabaker.co.uk. £2.1k incl Postage and packaging.
'Rainbow Lobster Pair 2' These lobsters were commissioned and sit at 1m x 1m oil on canvas. The enhanced colours and vibrant shine, make them a joyful feature on any wall. Satisfyingly symetric arrangement of chaotic captivating creatures. 2022 Prints available.
